Each stage cared for on their own terms

Every room at The House That Jack Built is designed around the children in it. Babies grow to their own rhythm. Toddlers build independence through a carefully planned daily routine. Pre-schoolers follow their own lines of enquiry, making choices and developing confidence. The same home-from-home instinct runs through all of it.

Sensory play, secure attachments, and supporting each child's individual routine
A typical day
Sleep, feeds and nappy changes follow your baby's own pattern, recorded in a daily diary, alongside sensory play, water play, music and buggy walks outside.
Sleep approach
Babies sleep to their own pattern, not a fixed routine. Staff check every ten minutes and record it, with cotton bedding kept just for your child and gentle music playing.
2 to 3 years

Key focus
Independence through imaginative play, early language development, and exploration
A typical day
A settled daily routine of group and individual play, books, music, art and outdoor time, with growing independence at mealtimes.
Sleep approach
A regular daily rest on beds with sheets kept just for your child, classical music and dimmed light for a calm wind-down.
3 to 5 years

Literacy, numeracy, communication, problem-solving, and confidence through play-based learning
A typical day
Structured, child-led activities across all seven areas of the EYFS, building towards school readiness, with a Preparing for School meeting each spring.
Sleep approach
A quiet rest or nap after lunch for children who need one.
